As described in our mission statement, First Baptist Church of Asheville is a “community of faith, centered on Jesus Christ and committed to his purposes in the world.” Those purposes include authentic freedom, caring friendship, and deepening faith, all of which grow from a vital connection with Jesus and his church.
To more fully become that kind of church, the congregation and deacons, in partnership with the ministers, have developed an ongoing process of planning which will shape our life and ministry together. In this process, the pastor, ministry staff, and deacons will engage the congregation in listening and discussing overall directions and hopes for ministry, gaining input from a broad segment of our membership. The Ministry Councils will work to shape these ideas into specific goals that will guide the church’s ministry from September 1 of each year through August 31 of the following year.
The major directions of focus and goals provided below will guide our work from September 1, 2013 through August 31, 2014.
