Giving to First Baptist Church
-
Debit and Credit Cards As a matter of convenience we can accept certain debit and credit cards. If you choose to use a credit card we encourage you as a matter of good stewardship to pay it off monthly or before interest accrues. Call John Boate at the church office for additional information.
-
Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) The completion of one simple form will allow you to automatically make you contribution on the periodic basis you select. Your gift will be drafted from your checking account in the amount you establish. Forms are available in the church office.
-
Gifts of Tangible Personal Property In-kind gifts can be valuable means of providing desirable tax benefits while also providing capital assistance to First Baptist Church. Gifts of real estate, equipment, works of art, rare books, paintings, antiques or immediate use items such as computer equipment, books, office furniture, are all eligible contributions to the church. The responsibility for establishing the value of such items remains with the donor.
-
Securities A gift of appreciated, long-term securities has several advantages, including the provision of both an income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities, and the avoidance of capital gains taxes on the transfer. See your attorney for advice regarding these matters, and call John Boate for transfer information.
-
Life Insurance A gift can be made by naming First Baptist Church as owner and irrevocable beneficiary of a whole life policy. The gift may be a paid-up policy, an existing policy with a cash value, or a new policy.
-
Charitable Remainder Trusts As with a gift of life insurance, a valuable gift to the church can be made in the form of a Charitable Remainder Trust. A gift of this type can return annual income to the Trust owner during his or her lifetime while naming the Church as beneficiary to the principal, thereby reducing estate tax liability. Such trusts would be established and managed by The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina
